Now that the holiday art shows were done, there was real artwork to be seen. We caught a show on Saturday at
ArtSpace in
Hartford called
Un-Cut by the Connecticut Women Artists. Here are a couple of pieces I liked:

The Mermaid Alabaster by Carol Zamcheck |
The next day was a show at the
University of Hartford's Silpe Gallery, in
West Hartford. They were featuring
2012 Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards exhibition. The artists were high schoolers from around the state. The place was packed with work - something like 753 pieces.

There was lots to like, but here are just a few shots:

It's all Starburst candy wrappers! |
Then, on Wednesday, the
West Hartford Art League opened their show called the
Elected Artists exhibit. As usual, there were lots of landscapes, but here are two I liked:
|
Sandra Welsh |
|
Teton Park Wyoming by William Simpson |
Marie went to Gainesville for the weekend, so after the snow was all plowed away...

I drove over to nearby Farmington and the UConn Health Center. Why go to the hospital? You might ask. Because it's filled with Art, would be my answer. And I do mean full. There were sculptures, mobiles, paintings, photos, prints, textiles and more. They were in the lobby, in the hallways, in the cafeteria, in the library, and in the waiting rooms. Inside and outside. Unfortunately, Frank Stella's tapestry was not hanging in the lobby, and there were a couple of outdoor sculptures that no one knew about, plus lots were under glass, so taking pictures wasn't a good idea, but click here to see some of what I shot. And here are just a few:

Line Drawing by Sol LeWitt |

by Victor Vasarely |

part of the Crater Series by Bonnie Thompson |
|
a landscape by Barbara Levin |
So now we're all caught up. |
